Second preview scheduled at the 24° UFF: Mestari Cheng (“Master Cheng”).
The movie is the latest by Finnish director Mika Kaurismaki, winner of many international awards and founder of the Sodankylä Film Festival.
Following the death of his wife, professional chef Cheng travels with his son to a remote village in Finland to connect with an old Finnish friend. Nobody in the village seems to know his friend, therefore Cheng starts working in a local café, in exchange for accommodation. His Chinese cusine surprises the locals, soon making him a celebrated member of the community. Unfortunately his tourist visa is soon to run out and it’s up to the villagers to come up with a plan to help him stay…
A light comedy, a story in which the passion for good food can overcome cultural limits, connecting two extremely different peoples.
Mestari Cheng will be projected at the UFF on the evening of August 7!
