Fourteen-year-old Omid decides to stay in the city with his grandfather during the siege, waiting for his older brother to return from the front. Along with Omid, other somewhat unusual characters also remain in the town, each for their own reasons and each trying to resist in their own way. As the siege presses on, Omid tries to save his loved ones by getting them onto an abandoned boat he finds in Abadan harbor, which will become his ark.
