He joined Michael Rudman's company at the Royal National Theatre, then worked for two seasons with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC). Ralph Fiennes is widely acclaimed for his theatrical and film career. In 2008 he received a double British Independent Film Award (BIFA) nomination, the first for best supporting actor for his role in The Duchess, and the second for In Bruges. Also in 2008, Fiennes starred in the acclaimed The Reader, starring Kate Winslet, and the six-time Academy Award winner The Hurt Locker, directed by Kathryn Bigelow. That same year, he received Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards® nominations for his performance in the HBO production Bernard & Doris.
