The Umbria Film Festival is heading in a new direction\u2026 or rather: it\u2019s moving forward with<\/strong> a new leadership team.<\/p>

Our incredible Artistic Director, Vanessa Strizzi, has decided to take a well-deserved break and has chosen to pass the baton to two equally extraordinary and talented women.<\/p>

Rachele Parietti<\/strong> and Teresa Mignolli<\/strong>, who have been members of the UFF team for several years, will take the stage at the 27th Umbria Film Festival.<\/p>

Rachele and Teresa both studied at King\u2019s College London, the city where they live and work.<\/p>

Rachele recently took on the role of Distribution Officer at the National Theatre of London, while Teresa became Distribution Officer for MUBI earlier this year.<\/p>

They’re both part of the family now, but we thought we’d introduce them a little better to you, our loyal followers, who check in with us every year.<\/p>

\"\"Being appointed Co-Artistic Director was incredibly exciting. The UFF was one of my first experiences in the film industry, back when I still knew very little about it. Back in August 2020, I never would have imagined that this moment would come! <\/i>Since that 24th edition, the UFF has taught me so much, both professionally and personally. <\/i>I am grateful to Vanessa and the Association for the trust they have placed in Teresa and me. It\u2019s certainly not common for such young people to direct a festival, but perhaps that allows us to tackle the challenges of organizing an event like this with a little more lightheartedness!! <\/i><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/details>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

What will you be bringing to the Festival? What’s new? What’s returning? <\/strong><\/em><\/p>

<\/p>

TM: <\/b>One of the highlights of this year\u2019s Festival is the program. Rachele and I are really proud of what we\u2019ve managed to put together: it\u2019s very diverse, not only in terms of themes and genres but also in terms of origin\u2014in fact, we\u2019ll be presenting films from both Europe and beyond, and we can\u2019t wait to show them to the audience. <\/i>We hope to bring a breath of fresh air and a new vision to the Festival. <\/i>We\u2019ve also confirmed Amarcorti, because we believe it\u2019s important to give a voice to young people who are taking their first steps in the world of cinema. The goal is to\u2026 showcase\u2026 serve as a platform to show their short films to the world. The prizes up for grabs? Just wait and see\u2014they\u2019re incredible! <\/i><\/p>

RP: <\/b>As it does every year, the UFF will present Italian premieres and previews of international films, coming straight from the most prestigious film festivals\u2014Berlin, Cannes, Venice\u2014all screened in their original languages with English and Italian subtitles. Of course, the Keys Ceremony will also take place to celebrate the artistic achievements of a prominent figure in the film industry. <\/i>Once again this year, young children will have the chance to explore the world of cinema through a selection of short films chosen just for them and to pick their favorite through the Children\u2019s Jury. <\/i>AmarCorti will continue with its third edition, presenting short films by young Italian directors to the public, with a new twist: three Italian talents will select the most deserving short film. <\/i>We\u2019re also particularly proud to have involved the Umbrian Academies of Fine Arts by launching a call for entries to design the poster for the 27th edition of the Festival. We can\u2019t wait to see the new artwork on the streets of Montone! <\/i><\/p>

What’s the formula for a perfect UFF?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>

<\/p>

TM:<\/strong> The Umbria Film Festival is made up primarily of the people who work there: we\u2019re a group of young people passionate about the world of cinema. It\u2019s precisely the wonderful relationship we share and the strong bond that has formed among us that drives us to work in harmony, creating a wonderful atmosphere. The ideal formula for a perfect UFF is this: a group of people who all care deeply about the project, do their work with passion, and take pride in bringing great independent cinema to the public. <\/i><\/p>

RP: <\/b>A show that stirs the emotions, eliciting both roaring laughter and deep reflection\u2014one that sheds light on little-known realities and stories, offering quality entertainment for everyone!<\/i><\/p>

<\/p>

Did you get any advice from Vanessa Strizzi?<\/strong><\/em><\/p>

<\/p>

TM: <\/b>More than just advice, I\u2019d say that Vanessa has inspired us with a deep passion\u2014a passion for cinema and for the Umbria Film Festival. It\u2019s thanks to her that we\u2019ve come to understand the Festival\u2019s mission and just how important it is to bring independent films of the highest quality to Italy and to fans of arthouse cinema. <\/em><\/p>

RP:<\/strong> Working closely with Vanessa Strizzi during the past three editions of the Festival has been a great source of inspiration overall. <\/span>Her keen eye for changes and trends in the industry has helped us realize just how important it is to turn a film festival into an alternative film distribution channel\u2014one that is still capable of reaching the general public. Thanks to her, we\u2019ve come to appreciate just how special it is to have a platform to bring these new films to audiences, and how essential it is to do so in an accessible way, creating an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome regardless of their familiarity with independent cinema. <\/em><\/p>
