Alice Rohrwacher

“Per me è un sogno ricevere le chiavi di questa città proprio da Terry Gilliam che nel mio immaginario è il sindaco del paese delle meraviglie.”

Con queste parole Alice Rohwacher ha ringraziato il nostro presidente dal quale ha ricevuto le chiavi della città di Montone in occasione del 28° Umbria film Festival.

An editor, director and screenwriter, Alice Rohrwacher was born in Fiesole in 1981 and grew up in Castel Giorgio in Umbria, where her father is a beekeeper (an echo of this will be precisely in the film “The Wonders,” which won her the Special Jury Prize at Cannes in 2014). She went on to study in Turin, where she graduated in Literature and Philosophy and then specialized in screenwriting, dramaturgy, narrative techniques and documentaries. He made his debut as a director in 2006, with the episode “La fiumara” in a collective documentary entitled Checosamanca. And then she began to collect important awards: “Corpo Celeste” (2011) won li Nastro d’argento as best first-time director; “Lazzaro Felice” (2018) won, again in Cannes, the Best Screenplay Award; “La chimera” (2023) won the AFCAE Award; until she reached, again in 2023, an Oscar nomination with the short film “Le pupille.” In 2016 she also tried her hand at the stage direction of “La traviata.” In 2022, her first children’s story, “The Good Road” illustrated by Lida Ziruffo, was published by Mondadori.
