Stanley Tucci

Key to the city of the 26th Umbria Film festival is Stanley Tucci.

American actor, writer, film producer, and director. He was nominated for an Academy Award for best supporting actor for his performance in Peter Jackson’s Lovable Remains and received critical acclaim for his roles in Road to Perdition and Conspiracy.

Tucci achieved great public success with the role of Caesar Flickerman in the Hunger Games saga films.

In 2017 his fifth film as director, Final Portrait, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival, the film traces the story of Swiss painter and sculptor Alberto Giacometti. He also starred in The Children Act – The Verdict, Beauty and the Beast, Submission, and Transformers – The Last Knight. In 2018, Tucci starred in Patient Zero, A Private War, and Nomis. In 2020 in What Is Life Worth and The King’s Man – Origins. While in 2021 he starred opposite Colin Firth in the Harry McQueen film Supernova.

Big Night, his first feature film in the triple role of co-director, co-writer and actor, won him numerous awards, including the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at the Sundance Film Festival in 1996. The film tells the story of two brothers who emigrate from Italy to open an Italian restaurant in America. Big Night inspired a cookbook, The Tucci Cookbook. Book reprinted in October 2012 and appeared on the New York Times bestseller list.

His second project as a director, The Cheaters, was selected at the Cannes Film Festival in 1998. He later directed and co-starred as famed New Yorker columnist Joseph Mitchell in The Secret of Joe Gould and co-wrote, directed, and starred in Blind Date, a remake of Theo van Gogh’s 1996 film.

He has starred in many TV series and won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for the lead role of Walter Winchell in the TV movie, directed by Paul Mazursky, Winchell. And he earned another Golden Globe for his brilliant portrayal of Lieutenant Colonel Adolf Eichmann in the HBO film Conspiracy – Final Solution. In 2010 Tucci made his Broadway theatrical directorial debut with a revival of Ken Ludwig’s Lend Me a Tenor with Tony Shalhoub. The production received a Tony Award nomination for best revival of a play.

His second cookbook, The Tucci Table: Cooking with Family and Friends was released in 2014 and includes recipes from the Tucci family’s Italian culinary tradition integrated with the British roots of his wife, Felicity Blunt. Stanley Tucci is currently involved in a highly successful program entitled Searching for Italy, which chronicles the beautiful country through the culinary traditions of various Italian regions. Tucci serves on the Board of Directors of the Food Bank of New York and has been a creative consultant at the Sundance Institute Screenwriters and Directors Labs.
