The Association
The Umbria Film Festival Association was born in 1995 and has organized the Umbria Film Festival since 1997 in Montone, together with the Municipality of the village.
It was created to promote cinematographic culture in all its forms, with a special focus on contemporary global film industry. Among its different activities, the association also organizes collateral events (exhibitions, concerts and seminaries) and trainings for professionals of the film industry.
Its many members are cinema lovers, following us from Italy and abroad. We are supported by spokesman of the national and international culture who chose the region Umbria, and in particular the Northern area of the Tiber Valley, as their favourite land.
Thanks to its national and international vocation, which has been at the foundation of its birth, the Association has created a big network of partners and collaborators that keeps on enriching its cultural offer.
Purposes of the Association
- To promote and spread culture, focusing on cinematographic art.
- To turn Montone and Umbria into a special stage where international directors and the local community to meet up and discuss about cinema, poetry and literature, making it different from other festivals.
At the international level
We have established strong partnerships with the Riverside Studios in London, the Melbourne International Film Festival and the Danish Film Institute.
A the national level
We are active part of the initiatives of the Italian Film Festival Association (Associazione Festival Italiani di Cinema – AFIC), founded in 2004 and conceived as tool of coordination and information spreading about film festivals characterized by research purposes and by the promotion of talents and of national and international cinematographic work.
We have a partnership with the University of Turin and the University of Modena Reggio Emilia: we welcome students every year to train them in the translation and subtitling field.
At the regional level
We cooperate with the Campus Leonardo da Vinci in Umbertide, and we host interns giving them the chance to learn translation skills and to confront with people from all over the world. We are members and founders of the Film Festival Network of Umbria.
