Kharoubi is also part of selection committees and has participated as a jury member at festivals all over the world.
Born in Milan, in Italy, in 1977, director and screenwriter for cinema, in 2014 he obtained the Special Jury Mention at the 66th Cannes Film Festival and the Nastro d’Argento Special Prize with the short film 37° 4S. In 2015 he brought his first feature film Banat – Il viaggio to the 30th Venice International Critics’ Week. In 2017 he made the short film Mon ami, mon amour, presented in competition at the 74th Venice Film Festival, Orizzonti section. In 2023 the feature film Casablanca was presented at the 20th Edition of the Giornate degli Autori of the Venice Film Festival.
After studying art history at the Universities of Toulouse and Bordeaux and taking applied art courses in tempera painting with the Greek iconographer Eva Vlavianos, Jean-Christophe Clair realized that he was not interested in a single artistic field, but wanted to explore the connection between the arts, their meeting points and the uniqueness of their relationship. Rejecting the role of the designer as a creator of serial production, he became passionate about ceramics and the extraordinary objects of Rometti, pouring into this new field the various cultural influences accumulated over the years, learning new techniques and opening new paths for the historic company from Umbertide. The fantasies and motifs of
his imagination find expressive form in clay, in the colors and shapes of objects that do not simply follow trends, but dreams and visions inspired by the great classics or stolen from everyday life. As in a fairy tale, he inaugurated a new, extraordinary creative path as Artistic Director of Rometti.
Connesi Award - Where Technology Meets the Seventh Art
Connesi enthusiastically supports the Amarcorti section dedicated to short films: a form of expression that is essential and innovative, and often the first step for up-and-coming directors. As a tech company, we believe in the power of forward-looking ideas. Just like innovation, short films are born from intuition, talent, and the desire to explore new languages. Supporting the seventh art means investing in creativity and the future. This is where stories are born—stories that connect people and open new horizons.
