Umbria Film Festival Masterclasses Citarella, D’Alò and Gilliam reveal the secrets of cinema

The Umbria Film Festival opens its doors to an exclusive series of meetings with the great names of cinema. Directors, authors and experts in the sector are ready to reveal the secrets, techniques and behind the scenes of the world of cinema.

This year, the Festival is proud to present three exceptional masterclasses with:

  • Enzo D’Alò: Author and director who has marked the history of Italian animated cinema with unforgettable works.

The masterclasses will be conducted by Daniele Dottorini and Sergio Sozzo, film experts and critics.

Don’t miss the chance to delve into the world of cinema with these extraordinary professionals.

He is an associate professor of cinema at the University of Calabria and a visiting professor at the Universidad Nacional de La Plata (Argentina). He is a film programmer for the Festival dei Popoli in Florence. He is the editor of “Fata Morgana”, “Fata Morgana Web”; a collaborator of the Treccani Italian Encyclopedia and of “Sentieri Selvaggi21st”. He is the author of the entry “Nemico” for the Lessico del cinema italiano (Milan 2014-2016). Among his texts: For a cinema of the real. Forms and practices of contemporary Italian documentary (Udine 2013), monographs on the cinema of Lynch (Genoa 2004), Renoir (Rome 2007), Cameron (Pisa 2013), Herzog (Cosenza 2022). The Passion of the Real. The Documentary or the Creation of the World was published in 2018 by Mimesis editions.

Sergio Sozzo Sergio Sozzo (Lecce, 1983) is the editorial director of sentieriselvaggi.it. He has published essays for Filmcritica, Bietti, Rivista del Cinematografo, Marsilio; he has created and hosted broadcasts on the subject for radio and web TV. He organizes festivals and reviews in Rome, Campania, Puglia, where he takes care of the selection of titles and meetings with guests. He holds courses on criticism, cinematographic language, digital cultures in schools of all levels and cultural associations. He curates the videogame column Ready Player One on FilmTv, and the official podcast of the National Union of Italian Film Critics. He was assistant director to Abel Ferrara for the documentary Piazza Vittorio.
