Marco Pontecorvo is an acclaimed Italian director and cinematographer. Born into a filmmaking family as
the son of the celebrated director Gillo Pontecorvo, he has built a solid international career spanning major
feature films and television productions.
He began his journey behind the camera as a cinematographer, crafting the visual identity of important
Italian films, including Francesco Rosi’s The Truce (La tregua), which earned him a David di Donatello
nomination, as well as major international productions like the features Letters to Juliet and Firewall, and
global hit series such as Rome and Game of Thrones.
He made his directorial debut in 2008 with Pa-ra-da, which garnered a David di Donatello nomination for
Best New Director, subsequently directing features like Partly Cloudy with Sunny Spells (Tempo instabile
con probabili schiarite, 2015) and Fatima (2020). He has also established himself as a leading name in Italian
television, helming major critical and commercial successes such as Carlo & Malik (Nero a metà), Alfredino
