Along with Omid, other somewhat unusual characters also remain in the town, each for their own reasons and each trying to resist in their own way. As the siege presses on, Omid tries to save his loved ones by getting them onto an abandoned boat he finds in Abadan harbor, which will become his ark.
Biography
Born in Tehran Sepideh Farsi moved to Paris in 1984, where she began working in film. One of her first productions, The World is My Home, is a documentary about the Iranian diaspora. Even when he won his first awards with his films and began to win prizes all over the world, he never lost his connection with his country and continued to make productions dealing with the themes of identity and diaspora. In the spring of 2008, he shot the film Tehran Without Permission using only a cell phone (due to government restrictions on filming).
In 2009 she was banned from her country (and still is) because of her political engagement and the films she made. Despite this, she continues to challenge and break taboos in Iranian cinema with her productions. In 2014, he made the film Red Rose– Red Rose, which includes sex scenes and deals with the relationships between generations of young protesters and those who had already challenged the Shah’s regime at the time. His latest documentary 7 Veils – 7 Veils won the Grand Prix of the FIDMarseille – Marseille International Film Festival in 2017. Farsi’s latest film, The Siren– The Mermaid, is his first animated feature.
Sepideh Farsi will participate in the Umbria Film Festival by presenting the Italian premiere of his latest project on Friday, July 7.
