Abdallah Al-Khatib

Abdallah Al-Khatib (Yarmouk, 1989) is a Palestinian-Syrian film director, screenwriter and human rights
activist. He rose to international prominence for his ability to document with realism and raw humanity the
lives of civilians and the experience of the military blockade in refugee camps.
Al-Khatib dominated the international film and political scene at the Berlin International Film Festival
(Berlinale 2026), where he won the prestigious GWFF Best First Feature Award (Best First Feature) for his
fictional film Chronicles from the Siege.
The film, structured into five chapters, tells in a tragicomic and heartbreaking way the daily resistance of
civilians trapped in a refugee camp.
